A battery plant co-owned by Hyundai Motor is going through a minimal delay of two to 3 months following an immigration raid final week, Hyundai’s CEO Jose Munoz stated Thursday.

The Georgia plant, which is operated via a joint-venture between Hyundai and South Korea’s LG Power Resolution, was on the middle of the most important single-site enforcement operation within the U.S. Division of Homeland Safety’s historical past.

Munoz, in his first public feedback because the raid, stated he was shocked when he heard the information and instantly inquired if Hyundai staff had been concerned. He stated the corporate found that the employees on the middle of the raid had been primarily employed by suppliers of LG.

It’s typical for an automotive battery plant to make use of these staff because it’s getting off the bottom, Munoz stated.

“For the development part of the crops, it’s essential to get specialised individuals. There are quite a lot of abilities and gear that you just can not discover in the USA,” Munoz stated, on the sidelines of an automotive occasion in Detroit.
